Featuring a diverse musical line-up with something for everyone, from the renaissance to the 21st century, WWAF provides an opportunity to experience various eras of music – all in one location – over one weekend.

Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Chamber Winds

Enjoy an afternoon of Harmoniemusik in Woodend: Melbourne Conservatorium of Music staff and students will perform Mozart’s opera “La Clemenza di Tito” arranged for wind sextet, alongside original works by Weber and Crusell.

Choral Marathon of Victorian Choirs

Woodend Winter Arts Festival is excited to host the inaugural Choral Marathon of Victorian Choirs, in partnership with the Australian National Choral Association (ANCA).

Over one music-filled afternoon, six different choirs will perform, incorporating over 200 choir members. From cabaret to contemporary, African American to folk and pop music, this event will have something for everyone. Ticket holders are welcome to come and go from the experience throughout the whole afternoon (subject to venue seating availability).

The Alma Zygier Trio

Commanding the stage with a heady mix of jazz and blues, Alma Zygier’s mesmerising presence brings to this timeless music a truly authentic yet modern grit. Join Alma and her band at St Ambrose Hall for an enigmatic and fun performance featuring jazz and blues classics.

Ensemble Liaison: Liaison and The Seasons

Described by Limelight magazine as a ‘national treasure’, Ensemble Liaison is one of Australia’s leading internationally acclaimed ensembles. Join them at the St Ambrose Hall for a program featuring Johannes Brahms’ glorious Romanticism; a new Australian work written especially for the Trio; and a selection of their favourite ‘Seasons’ by Argentinian Tango master, Astor Piazzolla.

Affinity String Quartet

 

One of Australia’s most exciting classical music ensembles, the Affinity String Quartet, will perform two masterworks linked by a poetic sense of time - Gyorgy Kurtag's ‘Six Moments Musicaux’ and one of Schubert’s most significant works, Death and the Maiden. Join them at St Ambrose Church as they take the audience on a dark and moving journey that explores past, present and future.
