Catch Joseph Tawadros live in Woodend – next weekend!
Don’t miss out – tickets selling fast.
We are extremely excited to have the talented Joseph Tawadros perform in Woodend next weekend, right before he heads off to the USA with the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Book now to avoid missing out on this incredible afternoon of music.
Plan a leisurely long weekend away in Woodend and witness the musical genius of this eight-time ARIA Award winner. Breaking away from traditional musical forms and pushing the limits of metre and melody, this dynamic program showcases original compositions by the renowned composer and oud virtuoso. Expect elements of western classical, jazz, world, folk, and even metal and bluegrass.
This concert is the ideal escape from the noise of the AFL Grand Final. Or, for those who don’t want to miss out on the footy action – you can still catch the game post-concert at local venues such as Holgate Brewhouse or the Victoria Hotel (both a short stroll from the concert venue).

Live Auction – closing soon
Don’t miss your chance to get your hands on a stunning original artwork by Marlene Young Nungurrayi – which you can now bid on (or purchase outright) as part of WWAF’s annual fundraising auction.
Women’s Dreaming, 2009
Marlene Young Nungarrayi
120x 50cm
Acrylic on Linen
Marlene’s painting, Women’s Dreaming depicts the Tingari journey path of Kungka Kutjara, the travelling Ancestor women, and their travels to the site of Munni Munni, to the south-east of Kintore. “There are no roads there – just desert country.” Marlene’s Dreamings include body paint designs and other aspects associated with Minyma Tjukurrpa – the women’s Creation stories.
This painting has been generously donated by our friends at Woodend Country House (85 High Street, Woodend).
Don't miss your chance to own this masterpiece! The online auction is open now, with the winning bid announced at our highly-anticipated Joseph Tawardros concert on Sunday 28th September. Bidding closes on September 28th at 12pm sharp.
Proceeds from both the auction and the concert will go towards creating an extraordinary 2025 Woodend Winter Arts Festival.
The Great White Whale – by Michael Dillon
We're thrilled to share the news that local filmmaker Michael Dillon is screening his latest documentary around the country. Titled, The Great White Whale, this extraordinary tale follows the first attempts to climb Big Ben, the smoking glacier ringed volcano on Heard Island, Australia’s loneliest, most remote outpost.
Michael is a long-time volunteer and supporter of the Woodend Winter Arts Festival. We wish him all the best and encourage you to get along to one of the screenings, which include the following two Victorian dates, both of which include Q&As with Michael:
Sunday 3 November at Cinema Nova Carlton at 4:30pm
Sunday 17 November at Theatre Royal Castlemaine at 6:30pm
