A musical feast for all at WWAF – from family friendly performances to unforgettable jazz and classical masterpieces, plus much more.

Get up close to internationally acclaimed artists in the intimate, atmospheric venues of Woodend - happening this King’s Birthday long weekend, 6–9 June. Don’t miss this magical musical experience.

The jam-packed program has something for everyone, from solo masterpieces by Mozart to the stirring sounds of Handel. We also have Spanish guitar, the soulful sounds of jazz and an enchanting performance of Cinderella, plus so much more.

Spanish Connections
Ken Murray, guitar
Ken Murray brings a warm and vibrant program of Spanish guitar favourites and modern twists to the stage on the Sunday of the Festival. Featuring works by Sanz, Scarlatti, de Falla, Goss, and Barrios, this program highlights the evolution of guitar music, from Baroque inspirations to modern compositions, concluding with Falla’s vibrant "Farruca" from The Three-Cornered Hat. A perfect midday musical escape.

Variations on a theme: works by Brahms, Mozart, Chopin & Scriabin
Berta Brozgul, piano
This magical performance from Berta Brozgul will feature solo piano masterpieces by Mozart, Chopin, Scriabin, and Brahms. From the moody chromaticism of Mozart’s A-minor Rondo to Chopin’s exalted Ballade no. 4, Scriabin’s Sonata no. 4, and Brahms’ dazzling Variations and Fugue on a theme of Handel, it’s a spectacular musical journey.

Handel Concertos
Accademia Arcadia
Let the sounds of Handel wash over you in a stirring program led by Accademia Arcadia. Featuring harp, organ and orchestral magic led by Davide Monti, with soloists Maria Christina Cleary (harp) and John O’Donnell (organ). Choose from either a Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon performance.
When: Saturday 7th June at 7.30pm & Sunday 8th June 2.30pm

Trio Phantasies
Trio Anima Mundi makes its Woodend Winter Arts Festival debut with an exploration of Trio Phantasies. Acclaimed internationally for its Piano Trio Archaeology – unearthing and rediscovering ‘forgotten’ works of yesteryear – the group offers a captivating program which juxtaposes two youthful ‘fantasies’ alongside a timeless classic from the piano trio repertoire.

An evening of unforgettable jazz
Chris Johnstone, guitar & the Mat Jodrell Quartet
Melbourne’s late-night jazz lands in Woodend. Chris Johnstone and Mat Jodrell bring the soul, backed by Ben Hanlon on bass and Danny Fischer on drums. Expect classic standards, original gems from Mat’s albums Grateful and Insurgent, and the kind of chemistry only top-tier jazz can deliver. Whether you're a jazz devotee or just chasing a soulful night out, this one's not to be missed.
